During the 13th and 14th January, project VisualMedia officially started in Madrid where all partners met and planned the work to be done for the first six months. During the first day, the whole Consortium met in Brainstorm’s facilities where we had the opportunity to put names to faces and to get to know each other better. All partners presented describing their own organisations and their role in the project. This was then followed up with presentations on the technical overview of the project, technologies involved in the project, the work plan for the first six months and we reviewed the financial issues as well as contract obligations.

During the second day, meetings were held in RTVE’s premises at TorreEspaña, which is the main telecommunications tower in Spain, where you will find the main studios for RTVE news channels. The day kicked off will all partners working hard on the User Requirements topic in a dynamic participatory session conducted by NTNU. That session was then followed up with a presentation of the VisualMedia project to the Spanish media which was organised by RTVE. This was followed by a visit the impressive facilities of Torrespaña including studios, newsrooms and production rooms. In the afternoon, sessions focused on the integration of the different technologies involved in the project. In a nutshell, it was a very productive kick-off meeting. Special thanks go to RTVE for nicely hosting the second day of the meeting.
